Chapter 1
Walking that night, the air was warm
still, from the sunny summer day of the end of July turning into August; It was
Obon festival ...
Flower beds and gardens, blooming with growing plants and
flowers starting to fall down their vases in strings of colors. Birds have
chirped all day in the trees around the tiny cottage I am renting.
I went to walk by the marina and sat for a cup of tea on the
patio looking at the lake and the green small dunes on the other side; ducks
swimming between boats.
The docks are so pretty when lit at night; with all the
beautiful boats all different on the water, eager to go for a tour.
Lots of peoples were roller bladding tonight and having fun
with the music, all ages laughing around and around with the music.
As I came back watching every rocks and flower bed, saying hi
to every dog owner patting their proud and loyal friend, watching for squirrels
or any other animal I would see.
The house were I am renting this tiny
cottage is lovely from across the street, with it’s huge windows and the warm
dim lights inside, a beautiful ranch house style with a front yard garden
flourishing with herbs and cherry tomatoes; the kids were having fun on the
trampoline the whole day and with their basket ball later; I enjoy seeing them
having fun from inside, hearing them laugh and playing.
I was to sit in the front, on the muskoka chair looking at
the marina across the street at night, the lake and brouhaha, from the quiet of
my place by the garden; when i felt a presence by me; i looked thinking it was
one of the neighbourhood cat or the friendly family cat from the house; but it
was not, and no one was around either?! Little breeze brushed my arm and a soft
whisper i could ear, but couldn’t locate it. I looked above my head in the
tree... maybe it was in there ... a racoon maybe ?! ... no move or sign of
anything there either; but on the contrary, a stillness, like time was paused
around me...
I took my camera and took a photo and this is what came from
it ?! I didn’t try to make it this way ... it was just like this ...(photo used is not the one taken)
I
looked the photo and felt it around my shoulder wanting to see itself; it
seemed to say something i am not sure i can repeat ... these things are better
kept secret ... private ...
But as my son i wish to tell you ...
I walk to my chair by my window and looked at my own little
windowsill; rock garden with a huge pink Hibiscus named Sunnybelle; and i heard
... a huge spider web with it’s
proportional spider on it ...
I sat at the chair and looking afar at the lake ... I felt
that i was not alone ... in a comforting way ... we are never alone, even if no
one is around J
